Healthy bank balance for the Sick Kids

THE charity supporting the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh has managed to increase its balance by £6000 despite the recession and a costly catalogue of infighting.

The Sick Kids Friends Foundation accounts have revealed the total balance is now 3,398,000, a small increase from last year.

That has allayed fears the closure of the controversial New Pyjamas campaign would leave a huge dent in the organisation's total worth.

The Evening News revealed earlier this week how the failure of the flagship appeal to raise 15 million for the new Sick Kids Hospital at Little France actually cost the SKFF - which was responsible for it - close to 1m.

But charity chiefs said an increase in donations and money found elsewhere in the set-up helped plugged that gap.
