Health staff scrub up well

DOCTORS and nurses are continuing to hit handwashing targets, according to a recent audit.

Health Protection Scotland said NHS Lothian staff were comfortably exceeding the 90 per cent compliance goal to reduce the spread of infections.

They are still, however, seven per cent short of the "zero tolerance" level demanded by the Scottish Government. The document showed that 280 of 300 health staff were washing their hands sufficiently regularly.
