Health chiefs' VAT blow

NHS Lothian would lose around £2.3 million a year if VAT increased to 20 per cent.

The health board would have the third highest bill in Scotland if ministers agreed to implement the increase.

The estimates were released following a parliamentary question from Lothians MSP Dr Ian McKee.
