Headteacher warns pupils against playing 'chicken'

THE headteacher of a city high school has warned pupils against "reckless behaviour" on the roads following reports that children have been seen playing "chicken" on the busy Queensferry Road.

Jane Frith sent out the warning to pupils at the Royal High School after receiving complaints from members of the public about some of her pupils behaving irresponsibly.

She urged them to think about their actions "before it is too late" and encouraged others to report such incidents if they witnessed any.

Parents have been campaigning for years for speed restrictions on the busy main road.

Just this week, a woman was taken to hospital with a suspected back injury after a two-car collision on the road.

Parents say pupils have been involved in a number of "near misses" while going to and from school and were shocked to hear that some had been deliberately putting themselves in danger.
