Heads-up for a right Royal party

THE Queen greeted guests gathered at Holyrood House yesterday for the annual Royal Garden Party.

She was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and around 8000 invited guests from across the spectrum of Scottish life. The event marks a high point in Royal Week, and the Queen was greeted with applause as she emerged on to the palace steps, where she paused for the playing of the national anthem.

First Minister Alex Salmond also attended.
