Head-on Aberdeenshire lorry crush victim named

THE victim of a head-on crash with a council lorry in Aberdeenshire was named yesterday.

Kestutis Senkus, 37, died on the B9170 Inverurie to Oldmeldrum road on Wednesday. He was from the Edinburgh area but is believed to have moved to Oldmeldrum for work.

His blue Volkswagen car was left crumpled under the Aberdeenshire Council lorry after they collided on a sharp bend between Barra Castle and Tillycairn Farm.

Police had to lift the lorry to free the car but Mr Senkus was killed instantly. The lorry driver was unhurt but badly shocked.

Meanwhile, a woman died yesterday in a fireball crash between a lorry and two cars. Her car burst into flames after the pile-up at 7.30am on the B9077 South Deeside Road in Aberdeen.

A Scottish Ambulance spokeswoman said: "Two people declined being taken to hospital for treatment."
