Haymarket plan on track

A CONTROVERSIAL revamp of Haymarket station has been approved by councillors despite heavy criticism.

Network Rail's plans were criticised for not creating a "transport hub," with one architecture group saying the proposals could be "mistaken for a supermarket".

Despite objections, the planning committee yesterday approved the plans.

Network Rail said that the project was the "best package available".
