Hayman to give lecture on charity work

SCOTTISH actor and director David Hayman is set to give a talk at Queen Margaret University next week about his international charity work.

The star of ITV police drama Trial and Retribution will be speaking about the work of his charity, Spirit Aid, which is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of children and young people whose lives have been devastated by war, poverty, genocide, ethnic cleansing and all forms of abuse.

Mr Hayman was last year awarded an honorary degree from the university.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, takes place on January 19 from 12.30-1.45pm.

Professor Barbara McPake, director of QMU's International Institute of Health and Development, said: "We are delighted that David is going to be sharing his experiences of working in some of the most challenging areas of the world.

"The main focus of the presentation will be to inform QMU's international health students about the work of Spirit Aid but we are also delighted to welcome people from the local community as well as other health and voluntary workers."
