Hashtag: #Kony

A viral video produced by the Invisible Children campaign group about Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony notched up more than 50 million views on YouTube last week and sparked a Twitter debate:

jeremycowart: Love it or hate it, you can’t argue with how powerful the #Kony campaign has been. 30 minute video, 40 million views in 3 days. WOW.

twistedcat: #Kony hasn’t been heard from in 5yrs, the footage is 12yrs old, and a small % of funds raised goes towards anything but admin fees. #scam?

DjTariQ: i think this is a good cause. No it doesn’t solve all the world problems, but it’s a start for that region.

NickKristof: my daughter asked me about Joseph #Kony, a tribute to the video. If it can build political will to tackle him, great!

simonhoupt: Yes #Kony is very important. But please don’t suggest “the media” wasn’t covering it until now.

lindseyjoy9: Whether you support #Kony or not it’s amazing how the power of 1 story can be told to the world through social media.

Kalinaki: If you want to #stopkony2012 get out of your bubble of ignorance. The world is full of #Kony in different guises.
