Harmony in prospect as Cuban choir arrives in Morningside

A CUBAN choir is to visit the Capital on its first trip out of its home country.

Música Áurea from Santiago de Cuba will join the Morningside-based community choir Songworks for a concert at Barclay Viewforth Church on Saturday, June 23, with both Scottish and Cuban songs on the bill.

Songworks members have been fundraising for two years to help bring the 15 singers in the choir and their families to Edinburgh. The choir, which sang for Pope Benedict XVI on his recent visit to Cuba, will be in the Capital from June 21 to 25, staying with local families, conducting workshops, and taking part in events including a ceilidh, as well as seeing the sights of the city.

For information on the concert, contact [email protected] or phone Hilary Brown on 0131 449 7648.
