A HANDYMAN accused of murdering pensioner Jenny Methven was committed for trial after a court hearing yesterday.

William Kean was remanded in custody after a judicial examination at Perth Sheriff Court.

It is alleged he murdered the 80-year-old by repeatedly hitting her with a blunt instrument on Monday 20 February at 4 Kildinny Farm Cottage, Forteviot, Perthshire.

The married father-of-two, of Blairgowrie, previously made no plea or declaration during a first private appearance seven days ago.
