Hall's art works sell for £2.5m

A COLLECTION of artwork owned by the supermodel Jerry Hall fetched almost £2.5 million at auction in London.

The 14 works, by artists including Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Frank Auerbach, reflect Hall's career and family life.

The piece which attracted the most attention was Lucian Freud's oil on canvas Eight Months Gone.

It depicts a naked Hall reclining while eight months' pregnant with Gabriel - her fourth child with Rolling Stones frontman and former husband Mick Jagger. It was painted after Freud met her at a dinner party.

It sold for 601,250, nearly twice its estimate of 300,000 to 400,000.

Hall said: "I was flattered to be asked in my condition to model for such a great artist.

"I accepted and posed three times a week until I went into labour."

The collection "exceeded expectations" when it was auctioned at Sotheby's in London yesterday. The works were estimated to sell for 1.5m but made 2,489,775.
