Gruffalo creator Julia is netted by pupils

Children from 52 schools will tomorrow see the broadcast by Julia Donaldson as part of a Meet Our Authors series by the Scottish Book Trust.

The programme – the first of its kind across the UK – is designed to reach children across the country interested in learning about literature.

Other household names, including Philip Pullman, Charlie Higson and Jacqueline Wilson, are to be part of a live streaming event in future.

Julia Donaldson said: "Not only will I be talking to a live audience in Glasgow, I am also going to be interacting with tens of thousands of other children across Scotland who will be tuned in on their computers – watching from school or at home – who will have opportunities to ask questions directly.

"I have spoken to large audiences in the past but never to that many people, so this will definitely be a memorable experience for me."
