Grubb takes lead in adopt a dog drive

A DRIVE to boost the number of families adopting a dog has been launched after new figures showed that one stray or abandoned dog is put to sleep every hour.

Dog food firm Pedigree and rescue homes across Scotland are urging people to save dogs from being put down.

City Lord Provost George Grubb met rescue dogs Butter, Josie and Maisie yesterday to highlight the increasing numbers of homeless dogs.

Clarissa Baldwin, chairwoman of the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes, said: "There are too many dogs destroyed."
