Green wardens praised for Twitter updates

Environmental wardens in the Capital have been praised for embracing social media.

The Edinburgh South West area’s environmental wardens were putting updates about their daily rounds on to Twitter as they worked yesterday.

The move was backed by Councillor Andrew Burns, leader of the Labour group on the city council. He said: “I think it’s just a glimmer of what’s possible if technology were to be used to its full advantage in managing localised issues, thus helping such be resolved quickly and efficiently.”

Among the updates was one informing people that the team would be carrying out dog fouling patrols in Murrayburn, Dumbryden and Hailesland, and one that said a number of trolleys had been found around Braidburn that “cancel out work to upgrade the flood defences”.
