Green light for homes at old SQA base

A DEVELOPER is set to build 18 homes on the site of the former headquarters of the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) after the plans were approved by council chiefs.

Proposals submitted by Cala Management Ltd called for the homes and garages to be built on the site at Iron Mills Road in Dalkeith.

SQA staff were moved to new facilities at Shawfair Park, also in Midlothian, following the closure of the former office.

Meanwhile, 14 homes are set to be built on the vacant site of the former Dalkeith Leisure Centre on land adjacent to Lauder Road and Woodburn Road.

Midlothian Council submitted the plans to create ten two-storey houses and four cottage flats, along with car parking, as part of the development.

Both sets of proposals were given a green light by the council.
