Green award for PC system

A COMPUTER system which reduces energy bills by £1.2 million a year in NHS Lothian has been handed a green award.

The Sun Ray set-up, which allows desk-top PCs to use 85 per cent less energy, also allows staff's log-in process to take only six seconds, compared to the several minutes most office workers experience.

It has been handed the environmental prize by the company Oracle.

The speedier system means staff can work quicker.
