Greece: Bullets posted to embassy

Greek authorities have confirmed that an envelope containing bullets and a proclamation was found at the Greek Embassy in Madrid.

The foreign ministry in Athens said in a statement that the suspicious envelope was found during checks on incoming mail? on Wednesday and that Spanish authorities opened it.

It was found to contain a number of small calibre bullets and a proclamation, the nature of which has not been made public.

The ministry said a similar package was sent to the Greek consulate in Barcelona on Wednesday.

Last month, letter bombs were sent to three embassies in Rome by Italian anarchists in solidarity with jailed Greek anarchists.

A Greek anarchist group has claimed responsibility for a spate of parcel bombings at embassies in Athens last November.
