Gray praises community pharmacies for services

A FORMER Scottish health minister has praised the work of community pharmacies in delivering treatment and advice.

Ex-Labour leader Iain Gray MSP, who was deputy minister for Health and Community Care from 1999-2000, spoke about the impact of community pharmacies during a tour of his local branch in Haddington.

He said: “As a resident of Haddington I thought I knew how important our local community pharmacies are to the town. As a former Health Minister I thought I knew how important they are to our healthcare system. In fact I had no idea just how vital a service they provide, or how widely they are supporting local residents and GPs.”

Mr Gray said he was “particularly impressed” at how effective the minor ailment scheme had become.
