Gray pledges cancer cash

SCOTTISH Labour leader Iain Gray has promised £4 million funding for a scheme which helps cancer patients receive the financial support to which they are entitled.

He said if Labour wins power after May's Holyrood elections, Macmillan Cancer Support would receive the cash, allowing the charity to run financial advice projects at its five main cancer treatment centres in Scotland, including Edinburgh's Western General Hospital.

Mr Gray said: "Almost a third of terminally ill patients don't receive benefits to which they are automatically entitled."
