Gray makes energy vow

Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray has vowed to drive forward Scotland's role as a world leader in the renewable energy sector if he becomes First Minister.

Visiting Pelamis Wave Power Ltd in Leith, he said the renewable energy sector had the potential to create more than 60,000 jobs in the next decade.

He announced Labour would set up a new body, Energy Scotland, to co-ordinate policy.

Mr Gray said: "This is the biggest industrial opportunity we have had in decades. Edinburgh can be a hub for emerging companies who want to do for green energy what oil pioneers did for the oil industry."
