Grass fire shuts down roads around Arthur's Seat

A HUGE grass fire on Arthur's Seat has led to roads around Holyrood Park being closed off.

The fire was spotted at around 3.15pm this afternoon, with emergency services on the scene soon after.

Winds have spread the fire across the side of Arthur's Seat underneath the Crags, and as a precaution police have closed roads within and around Holyrood park, with motorists unable to drive from Dynamic Earth to the Royal Commonwealth Pool. The road at the Commonwealth Pool roundabout to Duddingston Village has also been closed.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "The fire is spreading rapidly but nobody has been hurt."
