Grangemouth oil refinery gas leak sparks alert
The alarm was sounded around 10.45am on Tuesday after reports of a butane gas leak at the Ineos-owned Bo’ness Road complex prompted a full-scale response from the emergency services.
Pupils and teachers at nearby schools were told to remain indoors until the all-clear was given while a number of roads in the area were temporarily closed.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police in Forth Valley Division and other emergency service colleagues were today involved in a multi-agency response at the Ineos site in Boness Road, Grangemouth following a leak of Butane Gas.
“There were no injuries and this did not present any wider risk to the public.”
An Ineos spokesperson added: “Ineos can confirm that an incident occurred at the Grangemouth site today. The incident management team was mobilised and are managing the incident.
“We detected a gas leak and as a precaution we asked police to close Bo’ness Road. All personnel have been accounted for.”
