Grainger’s gym: Olympian overwhelmed by honour

FOUR-times Olympic rowing medallist Katherine Grainger said she felt ‘overwhelmed’ on returning to the University of Edinburgh for the opening of a gym named in her honour yesterday.

Glasgow-born Grainger, 37, who won gold at the London 2012 Olympics, started rowing as an Edinburgh undergraduate. She stopped in her tracks when she walked into the Katherine Grainger Rower Gym and said ‘blimey’. She joined a team of university rowers to try out the equipment.
