Gracemount pensioner deaths investigation ongoing

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after two elderly brothers were found dead at a house in Edinburgh after an apparent double suicide.

Police were called to a property in Lockerby Cottages in the Gracemount area of Edinburgh at around 5pm yesterday.

Officers launched a major response but said that they are not looking for anyone in connection with the deaths.

A police helicopter was involved in the response and there were road closures in the area south of the capital.

Police Scotland said: “Police in Edinburgh attended a property in Lockerby Cottages near Gracemount at around 5pm.

“On gaining entry, two elderly men were found seriously injured and were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Inquiries are continuing but police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”

The area was still cordoned off today.

Parts of Lasswade Road and other routes were shut yesterday, causing rush-hour delays.
