Government urges residents to recycle all Christmas cards

ENVIRONMENT Minister Roseanna Cunningham is urging people across Edinburgh to recycle their Christmas cards.

The call came as new research showed 80 per cent of Scots say they intend to recycle cards this year, with a further 70 per cent looking to recycle bottles, 69 per cent wrapping paper and 66 per cent pledging to recycle festive packaging from gifts and other products.

Officially launched yesterday, an annual campaign from the Woodland Trust and Waste Aware Scotland runs through January.

Residents across the Capital can recycle cards at local branches of participating retailers WH Smith, TK Maxx, and Marks & Spencer, or through their local kerbside collections and recycling centres and points.

Ms Cunningham said: "We all have excess waste that can easily be recycled and initiatives such as the Woodland Trust's Christmas Card Recycling Scheme make it even easier."
