Government seeks buyer for Tote

The government will seek bidders for state-owned bookmaker the Tote this autumn. Tourism and heritage minister John Penrose told MPs yesterday that he expected to be reveal news of any deal early next year.

A previous effort to sell the Tote under Labour was cancelled in 2008 because of volatile market conditions.
