Gorrie leaves £600k in will

LIBERAL Democrat politician Donald Gorrie left an estate worth more than £600,000 in his will.

Gorrie passed the bulk of his fortune to his wife Astrid after his death at the age of 79 in August.

He served for 26 unbroken years as a city councillor before being elected to the Edinburgh West seat in the House of Commons in 1997.

But no sooner had he been elected than he announced his plan to quit after one term because his real ambition was to serve in a Scottish parliament. He retired in 2007.
