Gordon Strachan sells English mansion for £1.25m

The football legend has flogged the luxury five-bedroomed house a year after

putting it up for sale.

The home in the village of Warsash, near Southampton, is one of the most grand

in the area and is kitted out in tasteful décor.

It has five bedrooms, six reception rooms, large gardens, a spiral staircase

and a sunroom.

Strachan, 57, and his wife Lesley bought the house for £950,000 in

October 2002, shortly after he was appointed as Southampton manager.

Property records show it was sold last month for £1.25 million - giving

the national team manager a £300,000 profit.

Strachan kept the house after leaving the Southampton post and has told how

when he was Celtic manager he often made the 800-mile round trip there to

escape the Glasgow “piranha fish bowl”.

He said: “I like it there. I can really get away from things there.”

Interior pictures of the house showed off the red-haired gaffer’s love of music.

The main living room has a black grand piano in it while another sitting room

has a silver disc on display and a classic guitar collection.

And the former Celtic and Middlesbrough boss even had an old-style jukebox

fitted next to a dining area.

When the property went on the market last year, Tom Woods, of estate agents

Knight Frank, said: “It’s a very nice house in a lovely part of the world.

“The area is very sought after, it’s right on the coast and is very popular

with the sailing community.

“It has been very well decorated and is very tasteful.

“It has not been on the market for very long but it is proving very popular and

is getting viewings.

“The current owners are still in residence but I don’t know what their future

plans are.”

The house called ‘Laissez Faire’ was built around 18 years ago. It has large

iron gates and a circular driveway with a plant bed in the middle.

It also boasts a sun terrace, a games room, a drawing room and a study.

Strachan commutes from England to Scotland for his job as Scotland team boss.

He has another home in the Midlands and has said his location allows him to

watch Scots playing in the English Premier League.
