Goodwillie on rape charge

FOOTBALLER David Goodwillie has been charged in connection with an alleged serious sexual assault on a woman in West Lothian.

The 21-year-old Dundee United and Scotland striker has been released to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court at a later date.

Goodwillie was charged by police following the alleged sex attack on a 24-year-old woman in Armadale on January 2.

His team-mate, David Robertson, 24, was also questioned by officers over the alleged incident, but he has not been charged.

A police spokeswoman said: "Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and no further comment can be made at this time."
