Golfers could flag after 16 hours of play

A CANCER charity wants West Lothian golf fans to tackle a tough fundraising challenge.

Macmillan Cancer Support is looking for teams of local people to play 72 holes of golf in one day, hitting 300 shots and walking 20 miles. The charity estimates the challenge will take 16 hours.

The four teams that score the highest and raise the most money for the charity will go on to play for the Longest Day Golf trophy at the Boavista Golf Resort in Lagos, Portugal.

Macmillan's fundraising manager in West Lothian, Fiona Leitch, said:

"It's certainly not going to be easy, but for people who really love golf there can't be many better ways to raise money."

Golfers who want to take part in the challenge can play any day between May and August by arranging a team and booking time on a course.
