Golfer comes to fore with fundraising

A GOLFER has raised £1,400 for the British Heart Foundation with a special event at Swanston Golf Club.

Brian Johnston, a BHF volunteer, organised a charity day at the club in Swanston Road, on 8 May, with 150 golfers competing for the Alan Skinner Memorial Trophy.

Mr Johnston said: "The weather was just right and I'm sure everyone enjoyed their round. As the nation's heart charity, BHF Scotland desperately need funds to save lives in Edinburgh and the Lothians."

Fundraising volunteer manager for BHF Scotland, Ffyonna Scott, said: "We are really grateful to Brian and everyone who took part in this very successful event. BHF Scotland urgently needs more fantastic volunteers like Brian to help us raise vital funds to beat heart disease.

"Many people have a hobby, like Brian and his golf, which can easily be turned into an ideal fundraising event."
