Golf statue vote could swing it

Plans to erect a statue to mark the location where the rules of golf were first recorded are to be discussed by councillors in the City Chambers.

SNP Leith councillor Rob Munn has lodged a motion calling for council officials to investigate the feasability of erecting a statue of John Rattray, the leading golfer at Leith Links in 1744.

The statue would mark the first recorded rules of the game being drawn up by the golfers playing at Leith Links in 1744.
