Ms Weston told prosecutor Dorothy Bain QC that there was a billion-to-one chance that the DNA on the glove matched someone other than Sarwar.

The court was told that photographs were taken of Mrs Jamil's body lying in her kitchen.

Defence QC Donald Findlay asked Mrs Weston: "The glove could have been worn by Khalid Sarwar or someone else?" and she replied: "Yes."

Mr Findlay then added: "There does not seem to be any evidence to support the contention this glove was worn during the assault on Mrs Jamil?" and Mrs Weston said: "No, there's not."

Under further cross examination by Dorothy Bain QC, Mrs Weston was asked: "Your findings a consistent with Mr Sarwar being a regular wearer of the glove, is that correct?" and she replied: "Yes."
