Glasgow woman stabbed in neck ‘lucky to be alive’

Police say a woman is lucky to be alive after she was stabbed in the neck in the street.

• Attack described as “extremely violent” by police

The 32-year-old was standing outside her car in Yate Road in the Barrowfield area of Glasgow when she was attacked at about 10pm on Monday.

She was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for surgery and has since left hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, while detectives are making door-to-door inquiries to try to find the attacker.

Detective Sergeant Dianne Wilson said: “This was an extremely violent attack on a 32-year-old woman who’s lucky to be alive.

“Barrowfield is a very tight-knit community, so I’m convinced someone knows who’s responsible.”
