Glasgow fire kills elderly woman in her home

An elderly woman has died in a blaze at her home.

Crews were called to the fire in the Parkhall area of Clydebank just after 6.30pm yesterday.

Four firefighters fought thick smoke on the ground floor of the property to search for the resident, the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire chiefs offered condolences to the family of the victim, who has not been named.
