Glasgow development blueprint unveiled

AN INDEPENDENT group has set out the key factors and priorities to help Scotland's largest city develop.

The Glasgow Economic Commission, made up of an academic and industry leaders, analysed information from businesses and other data before producing a list of recommendations for economic development.

The group's final report, released yesterday, said the city should focus efforts on sectors with the potential to "generate significant wealth and employment" including low carbon industries, engineering, design and manufacturing, life sciences and tourism and events.

They also said a High Speed Rail link from London was "vital to Glasgow", promotion was needed to gain investment and groups should work together.
