Glasgow Buchanan Galleries fall: Suicide suspected

Officers were called to Buchanan Galleries, in the city centre, yesterday morning.

An ambulance was also called but the 55-year-old died at the scene.

Part of the centre was closed following the incident, which is not being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: “Police were called around 9.40am on Tuesday, 14 May, 2013, to a report of a 55-year-old man seriously injured after falling from the third floor in Buchanan Galleries.

“Ambulance attended but the man died at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, however, there would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”

A Buchanan Galleries spokeswoman added: “We can confirm that an incident has taken place within the centre.

“We are working with the emergency services to fully assist in the investigation.”
