Girl with a kind heart: Brave Rebecca helps launch charity

A five-year-old girl battling a rare heart condition has set up a charity with her family to help others affected by the condition. Rebecca Gibson was born with Ebstein's Anomaly, a congenital heart defect which caused the displacement of one of her heart valves. She has endured several life-saving operations since birth and continues to receive treatment.

Rebecca and her family have now launched Rebecca's Rainbow Heart Ebstein Trust. Yesterday, her mother Jane, 40, explained the name. "Rebecca was having a scan," she said. "While the nurse was showing us the screen, a multitude of colours appeared. Rebecca shouted: 'Look, Mummy, there's a rainbow in my heart'."
