Girl saved after beach accident

MEDICS saved the life of a girl yesterday after a hole she was digging on a beach collapsed on her.

East of England Ambulance Service said a 7ft hole that the 15-year-old girl was digging on the beach at Caister, near Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, caved in. It is understood the teen stopped breathing, but medics managed to save her life by clearing her airways.

A spokeswoman for the Ambulance Service said: "The girl had gone into suspected respiratory arrest after falling down a 7ft hole in the sand."

The girl was recovering "quite well" at the hospital in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth.
