Girl rescued from rock

LIFEBOAT crews rescued three girls cut off by the tide off the North Berwick coast yesterday afternoon.

The trio, who had been painting and playing the guitar, were stranded on a rock at West Beach when the tide came in at around 1.30pm. It is understood the girls dialled 999 from a mobile phone and operators alerted North Berwick RNLI and North Berwick Coastguards to their position.

A spokesman for North Berwick RNLI said: "There wasn't any immediate danger but there could have been if the tide continued to come in and they hadn't called when they did."
