Girl, 3, drinks methadone

A THREE-year-old girl was being treated in hospital last night after drinking the heroin substitute, methadone.

Police were called to a house in Dumbarton around 1pm Tuesday after reports a toddler had swallowed some of the drug.

A 33-year-old man was arrested but he was released pending further investigation.

A Crown Office spokesman said: "We can confirm a report has been submitted by the police to the procurator-fiscal in Dumbarton concerning a 33-year-old male, in connection with an incident on 17 August.

"Following full and careful consideration of all of the facts and circumstances in this case, he was liberated from custody pending further investigation."
