'Get shipwreck off our beach'

FRUSTRATED residents have pleaded for help to remove a boat that's been shipwrecked on their beach for four years.

The 25-metre Sovereign hit rocks off Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, in December 2005 and has been stuck there ever since.

Nearby residents fear the steel-hulled wreck is a safety hazard.

George Ritchie, chairman of the community council in Cairnbulg, said: "The boat is not only an eyesore, but it's a danger.

"We're worried young people might go out into the water, try to board it and get into difficulties.

We need to find out whose responsibility it is to move it."
