Generous Scots save African lives
Scotland’s response to an emergency charity appeal following a drought in Africa helped saved thousands of lives, it has been claimed.
The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) said more than 183,000 people received help following the response to last year’s emergency appeal, which raised £1.108 million.

Hide AdWithin six weeks, £641,000 was distributed to projects on the ground, with just over £1m spent to date.
Lorraine Currie of SCIAF said: “Supporters really pulled out all the stops and donated a staggering £1.2m to last year’s Horn and east of Africa drought appeal. This money and the emergency support it provided saved the lives of thousands of people.”
