Gas works to hit lane flow

MOTORISTS are being told that they face disruption as the final stage of a £350,000 gas mains renewal project gets under way today.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions on London Road at its junctions with Easter Road and East Norton Place.

Scotia Gas Networks (SGN), the company carrying out the work, said restrictions would be in place for four weeks, with some parking suspended.

Last year, the Evening News revealed motorists in Edinburgh face 23 years of hold-ups as contractors replace 400 miles of gas mains under the city's streets.
