Garden clock is in bloom

THE city's famous floral clock is set to be unveiled today as Edinburgh gears up for this year's Britain in Bloom competition.

Created out of flowers, the timepiece lies at the east end of Princes Street Gardens.

This year, it will pay tribute to the charity Action and Hearing Loss, formerly the Royal Institute for Deaf People, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

More than 30,000 plants including Golden Pyrethrum, lobelia and others have been cultivated by staff at the Inch Nursery for the clock.
