Garage torched after break-in

A GARAGE was destroyed and two others damaged after thieves started a blaze following a break-in.

The culprits forced open a garage to the rear of Rowan Gardens in Bonnyrigg on Friday before breaking into a Nissan Almera parked inside.

They set fire to the vehicle and the flames destroyed both the building and the car. The fire spread to two other garages and caused extensive damage. Police have appealed for witnesses.
