Gang hunted after phone theft attack

A GANG of ten teenagers is being hunted by police after surrounding a woman before trying to steal her mobile phone.

The 20-year-old was walking along Macbeth Moir Road in Musselburgh on Sunday night when she was confronted by the attackers.

After the short struggle, the teenagers fled empty handed.

The gang is described as being all white, aged between 15 and 17 and wearing casual clothing. One of the suspects was wearing a burgundy hooded top.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The young woman was not injured, nor did she surrender her phone during this incident. Nevertheless, this was an unpleasant and distressing experience and we are conducting local inquiries to identify those responsible.

“Anyone who has information is asked to contact police immediately.”
