Gang attacks teenager and steals phone

A TEENAGE boy was attacked by a gang of youths who repeatedly punched him on the face and body before stealing his mobile phone.

The 17-year-old was walking home in the Duddingston Park area when the male youths assaulted him at around 11pm on Friday.

Police are now urging anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious to come forward.

One of the suspects is described as white, late teens, medium to heavy build with short dark hair. He was wearing a distinctive white tracksuit top with blue square or rectangular panels on either side of the zip.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was not seriously injured but, nevertheless, this was a frightening experience that resulted in him being robbed of his phone and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this assault.

“Similarly, anyone who was in the Duddingston Park area and can assist us in identifying the group of youths is also asked to contact police.”
