Gamers show creative skills

THOUSANDS of games enthusiasts from across the globe are set to come together next week for the world's biggest gaming event.

Edinburgh Napier University has been selected to be one of 120 worldwide hosts of the Global Game Jam.

Game Jam, which takes place from January 29-31, challenges participants to create video games in small teams, developing a game in just 48 hours.

The Edinburgh Napier gamers will work along with developers around the globe to create hundreds of small scale but innovative games.

Dr Kevin Chalmers, lecturer in interactive entertainment at the university, said: "This is the first time we have taken part and we're very excited.

"With creativity and experimentation crammed into 48 intensive hours, it looks set to be a great event."
